Tuba mirum spargens sonum
Liber scriptus proferetur, in quo totum continetur, unde mundus judicetur.

over graven regionen,
waarin alles staat genoteerd,
niets zal ongewroken blijven.

Litt. English/Latin:
The trumpet (tuba) spreading (spargens) its won'drous sound (mirum sonum)
over (per) graves (sepulcra) regions (regionum),
calls (coget) all (omnes) before (ante) the throne (thronum).
Death (mors) and nature (et natura) will be astounded (stupebit),
when the (with=cum) creature (creatura) will rise again (resurget),
to be hold accountable (responsura) for the Judge (judicanti).
A written book (liber scriptus) will be brought forth (proferetur),
in which (in quo) all (totum) is written (litt: in which all contains; continetur),
by which (unde) the world (mundis) will be judged (judicetur).
When (ergo cum; so with) the Judge (Judex) takes his place (sedebit),
what (quidquid) is hidden (latet) will be revealed (apparebit; will appear),
nothing (nil) will remain (remanebit) unavenged (unultum).
What (Quid sum; what at all) then (tunc) shall a wretch (miser) (like me) then say (dicturus; futurum; shall say)?
On which (quem) intercessor (patronum) will be called upon (rogaturus),
when (cum) even the righteous (man) (justus) will hardly (vix) be safe (sit securus)?

This is an old rhyme version:
The mighty trumpet's wondrous tone
shall rend each tomb's sepulchral stone
and summon all before the Throne.
Now death and nature with surprise
behold the trembling sinners rise
to meet the Judge's searching eyes.
Then shall with universal dread
the Book of Consciences be read
to judge the lives of all the dead.
For now before the Judge severe
all hidden things must plain appear;
no crime can pass unpunished here.
O what shall I, so guilty plead?
and who for me will intercede?
when even Saints shall comfort need?

Aria: "Der Herr segne euch" (BWV 196 No 4) for French Horn, Tuba & Strings

Der Herr denket an uns (The Lord is mindful of us), BWV 196, is a cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach. It is difficult to date, but is generally considered to be an early cantata on stylistic grounds. It has been suggested that it was composed at Mühlhausen where Bach lived in 1707/1708.

The text is taken from Psalms 115. Much of Bach's later cantata output was written for the requirements of the liturgical calendar, but this cantata appears to have been written for a special occasion. The psalm includes the line "The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children". Many commentators, from Philipp Spitta onwards, have concluded that the cantata was written for a wedding, and have gone so far as to suggest actual weddings where it might have been performed, including Bach's own in 1707. However, the wedding hypothesis is far from proven, and the text could fit other occasions.

Although this Cantata is scored for three vocal soloists (soprano, tenor, and bass), a four-part choir and an instrumental ensemble consisting of strings and continuo I created this arrangement for French Horn, Tuba & Strings (2 Violins, Viola, Cello & Bass).

This early work of Kurt Atterberg makes few concessions to 20th century modernism, although it was composed in 1916. His second symphony is Late Romantic in character, with the lush harmonies and soaring melodies that are typical in his work. The orchestration is also typical of a late romantic work with pairs of woodwinds, piccolo and bass clarinet, 2 trumpets, 4 horns, three trombones and tuba. The small percussion section includes timpani and cymbal, used tastefully for emphasis in just a few places.

Atterberg's most famous work is his 6th symphony which has a jazzy and insouciant quality, although still quite conservative by 20th century standards .

This is the main theme from the Oliver Stone's motion picture J.F.K. The music is by John Williams, but I transcribed all the piece from the original sheet music.
The theme is very lyrical, probably one of the most beautiful scores of the american composer, though isn't well known.
The parts of the orchestral score are:
English Horn
B flat clarinet(1,2)
F Horn(1 & 3,2 & 4)
B Flat Trumpet (1,2)
Snare drum
Violin (first and second)

Loved this theme from my childhood, so I decided to transcribe it. Let me know if there are any edits I should make!

Edit 1 (8/22): Changed some dotted quarter notes to regular quarter notes

Edit 2 (8/25): Added a lot of stuff. New oboe notes for the rest of the song, added some tuba notes, added a piccolo for the second part of the song, changed some trumpet notes to match the new oboe notes, filled out the flute part, and changed some harp notes.
