Sand Dunes

Uploaded on Oct 4, 2014

I composed this for a competition. This version is from September of 2014, as I intend to create other versions for other ensembles. The title came before the song, for I believe music sounds better if there is a story behind it. If music is created with a setting in mind, the music begins to take the shape of that setting and, in effect, tells a story. Thus, this piece illustrates a vast sea of sand. The great thing about music is that you can interpret it how ever you want, regardless of the composer's original intentions.

WOW! I love this and I completely agree that music should have story behind it. Because of this, I always tend to name my pieces before I write them. It makes me focus on the emotion that I want the listener to feel throughout the entirety of the piece. I feel like we are kindred spirits. Lol. Very good job!!
Thank you very much! It's good to know I'm not the only one who names my music first. :)
