Wedding March (In E)

This piece is one of my many drone pieces in that the bass note is the same from beginning to end. This bass note gives a firm and secure foundation (in this context for the marriage, too, hopefully) for different chords of various complexity to give their flavor for the piece, but always in relation to the same bass note.

At bar 9 I was a bit surprised to write the notes of C and H# at the same time. The right hand plays the chord of Eaug (with the H#) and the left hand plays the chord of C major (VI of the parallel E minor, with the C, obviously). I like the sonority of these two chords played together and particularly the dissonance between the notes of G and G# merging together gradually.
