For Chamber Orchestra

Uploaded on Jan 29, 2018

In Ancient Greece, a dying Father from an aristocratic household sends his Daughter to be married to a Nobleman from Egypt. She is unhappy with her life being controlled and eventually the Daughter runs away. As she is traveling through the Egyptian city, running into all sorts of dangerous people, including a strange Apothecary, she eventually comes across a Peasant Man who protects her from the city's treacherous side. They begin to fall in love and the Peasant Man shows the Daughter his way of life.
The Nobleman accompanying his guards goes looking for the Daughter and eventually finds her with the Peasant Man. He has the Peasant Man killed and leaves the Daughter holding his body in the streets. Her Father's ghost appears and warns her that she has a duty to marry the Nobleman and to carry out her family's legacy. He says that if she does not follow his instructions, she will die.
After her Father's apparition vanishes, she takes the Peasant Man's body to the Apothecary she met on the streets and has the Apothecary revive him. Unfortunately, he does not act the same and is in an almost zombified-like-state. Knowing that she will never be able to love the Peasant Man as he is, she plots to take revenge for her situation by killing the Nobleman.
The Daughter and Peasant Man disguise themselves and break into the Nobleman’s home, where they abruptly murder him. The guards of the home begin closing in on their location and they are both killed.

I was originally going to write a 15 minute or so tone poem called "Largo and Allegro", with no story or reason, but thanks to Mark Vendy (@MV)'s suggestion, I am turning this into a ballet.
This piece was pushed to the side in the middle of January 2018 when I got inspiration for 'Because of You". It was very difficult to work on both this piece and "Because of You" since the tones and styles are vastly different!
Let me know what you think and what you would want to see in the future.

The Painting was originally part of a series of French publications, appearing first in 1809 and continuing until the final volume appeared in 1829. The volumes, titled "Description of Egypt, or the collection of observations and researches which were made in Egypt during the expedition of the French Army" attempted to catalog all known aspects of Egypt.
