An arrangement of a traditional Lakota song for SATB Choir. The parts are not difficult and it can be whipped up to a performance in almost no time. Good thing too, since I needed this for a Native American celebration event. I couldn't find any other music but I have always loved this lullaby so I arranged it over a few hours.
I moved the original 6-8 feel into a comfortable and easy to read 4-4 and added a piano part to carry the singers along. It's not the most clever work but still sounds nice.
Later on I discovered that a Lakota woman had kindly posted a translation of the text onto a youtube video, so I added it.
Lastly, as always, I prefer the Oboe as the default sound for voices. So shoot me..
This arrangement is free to download and use for non-profit reasons.
4/26/19 - Edit - Added additional text "the night is good" that I'd forgotten. Spaced vocal staves 6.25 apart because automatic placement was giving me trouble positioning lyrics. Added one note to soprano voice, repositioned lyrics to share all voices.
4/26/19 - Edit(b) - Learned about staff spacers. Nice.
