Icelandic folksong from the collection of Bjarni Þorsteinsson (1861-1938) published in 1906-1909. The song is related to a folksong from the Faroe Islands called Òluvu kvæði. The lyrics refer to the French king Pepin the Short and his daughter who is called Ólöf here but might be Gisele, sister of Charlemagne.
It is traditionally sung at Yuletide and includes the refrain "Step harder on the floor, don't worry about your shoes. God will decide where we will dance at the next Yule".
