Bavarian Rag

Uploaded on Jan 17, 2019

This is a little diddy I whipped up a couple weeks ago. The melody just popped into my head on Christmas morning and I just sat down, started writing, and ended up with this. The inspiration for this piece comes from a YouTube video I watched of the Berliner Philharmoniker performing a march style piece, and the audience was having a great time listening to it, and I wanted to write something that also brought people joy. For stylistic inspiration I drew from Central European Romantic music (shoutout to the Strauss boys) which has a lot of pleasant harmony and jumpy melodic intervals that always turn my frown upside down - and then I thought I could spice it up with some good old American ragtime chromaticism. I had a lot of fun writing this piece, and I hope you have just as much fun listening to it! :)

Let me know what you think!
