Twa Recruiting Sergeants
Uploaded on Aug 14, 2019
This is a traditional Quickstep, or Old Time Swing from the north east of Scotland, more likely to be used at an Old Time Sequence Dance than a Ceilidh. The Black Watch were part of the famous 51st Highland division, and were recruited from the Dundee area, formed after the battle of Culloden (the last battle to be fought on British soil). Their name derives from their dark regimental tartan, and their initial role to 'watch' the Highlands of Scotland for Jacobite rebellion.
