This is a traditional Scottish strathspey that is often used at Scottish Country dances, but not commonly at Ceilidhs. There is a specific Scottish Country dance choreographed for this tune. The composer is unknown, but the tune is believed to date back to about 1795. The Breadalbane was an area of land owned by the Campbells, one of the most powerful clans in Scotland at the time. The area is located in modern Perthshire.
