O cheiro do vento - the scent of the wind

For Solo (instrumental or vocal part)

Uploaded on Jan 31, 2019

The song was born based on the text of a beautiful poem by Mateus Gonzaga, "Naufrago I” ( https://poemificacao.blogspot.com/2019/01/naufrago-i.html ), and on the musical score "The Conclusion - String Quartet “( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoDa59oSgJ0 ), also by Mateus, music that has been simplified (to reach its essence) and integrated.

I informed him of this song I (re)-compose. He found it so beautiful (especially the modifications on the poem) and enthusiastically allow me to publish it here as my work of art: in fact It's both an arrangement and a new work of art because of the new complessive meaning of his poem and of his music.

But, given that the main corpus of the music and text is made from Mateus, he will be the eventual only beneficiary of any commercial use of it, and any rights about it are obviously shared: we are, togheter, direct and indirect authors.

Mateus ( https://musescore.com/user/28933897 ) is both a poet and a music lover. We are both. That's why I felt both mine his poetry and his music.

The song is dedicated to Mateus' brother Douglas, who unfortunately died. I thought that the wind could contain its essence and that this essence is always present in the life of Mateus.

Everything is loneliness ("tudo è solidao"), but everything is also able to make sure that he (and us) is an integral and important part of the whole universe, even if only a small drop of all his majesty, through "o"cheiro do vento", the smell of the wind.

I imagined that the scent of the wind was the one of a blue hyacinth in bloom, a very strong and sweet scent (that I actually have in my winter garden, where I composed/arranged the song - it’s very cold in Italy, now - despite of this the hyacinth resist, and is in full flowering), which permeates everything and seems to infuse death and life. But there wind have also others smells, that of the peasant bonfires, of marine saltiness and of the smell of the incipient evening.

The smell of the wind makes life worthy, proud, beautiful, to be lived with immense joy and serenity.

With a smile, Chaplin would have said ;)

I leave here the translation of this song - from portuguese:

"The scent of the wind

... Everything is real,
and everything says nothing

And anyway
There's no point in making verses.
About a night that no one knows
About an eternity
That no light can reach.

But anyway,
everything is eternal:

the Dance
the Sleep
the Scream
the Wait

(In the ocean,
in the halls,
The child dances
The hope of the moon)

... Everything is real,
the Dream
the Scent
the Wind
Love

And anyway,
everything is solitude...
and everything says nothing.
and everything, it's for always ...

The scent of the wind
are you
and you
are all
for ever
for
me”

Love

And anyway,
everything is solitude...
and everything says nothing.
and everything, it's for always ...

The scent of the wind
are you
and you
are all
for ever
for
me”

P.S.

I do not appreciate the general policy of clicking on "I like / dislike", but I feel free to put a "like”. ; )

Instead, for me it is much better to make a comment, even with strong criticism, in which an articulated thought can unfold - even if it objectively wrong or even meaningless, but with more sense than a button to press: even not writing anything, even silence, means more than one button. Means thought.

It can be a bulwark against all dichotomous simplifying dictatorships (immigrants / citizens, black / white, I like / I dislike), dichotomies that in the past, under other forms, have been the source of possible attempts to control consensus.

Yesterday analogical, today also digital.

Imagine yourself with the web ...

Music, songs, poetry, for example, on the other hand, are the realm of nuances, of a thousand possible interpretations and different perspective views...

...and you on which side you are?

Fell free to simplify, but consciously remember the profound hidden meaning of every day-by-day little renunciation of being a complex human being, capable of such beauty in all the fields of knowledge... also in technology itself : )
