PokeMedley: The Gen I Speedrun
Uploaded on Oct 6, 2016
It's finally here! My latest and greatest creation, a medley that I worked on for at least 5 hours every day of June and July over the past summer for a total of 450+ hours. This piece was written for Brandeis University's Top Score Orchestra, the only student-run orchestra at Brandeis! While the instrumentation in Top Score is not perfect, I included all common instruments from wind ensembles and orchestras and made sure that in every measure, at least one other instrument doubles nearly every part. That way, no matter what instrumentation your ensemble has, you don't have to worry about missing a specific part!
This medley contains music from over 30 different songs from the first Generation of the Pokémon games (Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow) in just 10 minutes of music! Think of it not as a medley of game themes, but rather as the orchestra playing the background music for the conductor's speedrun of the game! I wish I could have MuseScore play the voices written in to the Trumpet 1 part, but to compromise, please take a listen to the following file to get an even better idea of what I had in mind: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9DwCS8vdQmXSXJyVzRlU2hXY2c/view?usp=sharing
