"Floreas, Wakefieldia"

Uploaded on Jun 21, 2017

"Floreas, Wakefieldia" is the School Song of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield. The music was composed circa 1900 by former Headmaster of QEGS, Matthew H. Peacock, MA, B Mus., to fit Latin lyrics written by H.G. Abel, MA, then Head of Classics at QEGS.

This arrangement is based on Peacock’s first revision of his original score, which included a change in the chorus lyrics from “Juniorum probitas” to "Juniorum humilitas”, together with corrections of some minor errors of notation in measures 17 and 21. This new arrangement includes further minor changes of notation, principally involving measure 18.
