Mr Zoot Suit - Brass Quintet!

For Brass Quintet

Uploaded on Aug 8, 2018

A fun one that gets everyone involved...
"Mr. Zoot Suit" is a featured song in the motion picture A Blast From The Past, with the music & lyrics by Mark Cally. This quintet score is based on a version by The Flying Neutrinos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PMfX0UHdlk, and a few other big band versions on YouTube.

"He's got great big feet, he's jumping to the beat,
He's been dancing in the street.
He's dressed so fine, got lots of loot,
We like to call him Mr. Zoot Suit.

He drives a great big car, smokes a big cigar,
Looks like a king, and he acts like a star.
When we see him drive by he goes "toot, toot,"
We all shout, "Hey, Mr. Zoot Suit!"

He's got a purple suspenders and a yellow tie (say what?),
Come on boys, I tell you no lie.
He's got all those hats, funky spats,
He is the hippest cat.

No, no he can't be beat,
Wherever he goes he turns up the heat.
So when you see him drive by with that big cheroot,
Don't forget to shout "Hey, Mr. Zoot Suit!"

Completely according to Kamil, you did a wonderful job, not only maintains the essence of the composition, but also adds an air of complexity and complementation between the instruments that is not appreciated in the original.
I found this amazingly better than the version i listened to at youtube and better without lyrics imo although lyrics is a wonder on its own.
Thanks, Kamil. I listened to a few other YouTube versions, and they were much cleaner (and would have been much easier to work from). Thanks again for listening. I really like this style of jazz...it makes me want to get out on the dance floor!
