Take the A Train - Duke Ellington - Brass Quintet!
For Brass Quintet
Uploaded on Jan 14, 2019
"Take the 'A' Train" was written by Billy Strayhorn for the Duke Ellington orchestra. The song was composed in 1939, after Ellington offered Strayhorn a job in his organization and gave him money to travel from Pittsburgh to New York City. In writing directions for Strayhorn to get to his house, Ellington wrote, "Take the A Train." (The title refers to the A subway service that runs through New York City.)
While not the Duke Ellington Orchestra, this quintet arrangement attempts to capture the feel of the original. Enjoy!
