So next year will be my senior year of high school and I'd like to compile the big pit moments from each of the past three shows that I have performed into a sort of lot piece. I have been trying to figure out a good way to do it, but I've been unsuccessful so far. If anybody would be interested in helping me out, please let me know. I really want to surprise my section with something like this.

About a year ago I was playing percussion in my school's production of My Fair Lady. I don't remember which song this was in, but at one point the percussion score-- and I believe it was only the percussion score-- had the marking "fake time". I have not seen this marking anywhere else, and no one, not even google, seems to know what it means (When I asked my director what it meant, he said "you're a percussionist, it's what you've been doing this whole time. Music directors are mean...) To me, it seems like it would be synonymous with "free time", but that seems like an odd thing to have in one part of a theatrical score. Has anyone on here seen this marking before? If so, how was it interpreted? If not, how would you interpret it?

Man, I have got to be the worst admin in the world, going AWOL for months and months. Probably should put a few other admins on this page in the case of my absence.
But man, never thought this group would have more than 50 people in it. Next thing I know, there's over 100 people, then 200, and I'm like, wow.
But enough of that, I wanted to ask you all a question. I see quite a few Copy/Paste arrangements on this site, and I've always made it a point that whenever I make some kind of arrangement, I add my own little thing to it, a signature if you will. And it got me wondering if anyone else does that kind of thing.
Personally I love adding in chimes, bells, vibes, and any other metals I can add to make things spark a bit more. I also like to increase the speed of playing of several things I write, but I'll also slow things down quite a bit as well.
Is there any kind of style you all use? Or do you aim to keep things as close to the original as you can get?
Put simply, I'm kinda bored, and I want to write out some percussion parts. However, I have no shows to write for! So, does anybody have a show that they'd like me to help arrange percussion parts (both pit and battery) for?
I'd like to try something fun in my new role as co-administrator of Laugh Silly. Each Month, I will name the best laugh-inducing, silly composition submitted during the month, at least according to me and then post the winners here.
You are also welcome to nominate what you think are the best of the month, also.
I am currently arranging some pop music. I have some questions for anyone that would be willing to help an amateur:
1. In pop music, sometimes artists embellish a little with vocals and etc. Is it better to use complex rhythms to come close to what the artist does, insert an simpler rhythm, or change it all together?
2. In giving out the melody parts, I don't really want to give it to the trumpets every time because they always get it, and the flutes are usually really hard to hear? What other options do I have that will actually sound good? I know that just about every instrument can play melody, but I also know that if not executed correctly it could be a disaster.
3. Does anyone have any suggestions for songs that I could do?

We (Joseph and Hannah) have decided that every time we double in the number of followers (so right now we're at 5, so it'll be 10, 20, 40, 80, maybe throw in something for 100, 160, etc.) we will alternate posting an original composition to thank you! Over in the discussion for one of my suggested new score templates (at https://musescore.org/en/node/111531), the question of what the usual writing process for pit parts is came up. If you have some perspective, I'd like to read it.
Also, I have two templates WGI that could also be the templates for pit parts if you're in a marching band that usually writes their pit parts separately.

here is an idea for a new competition
someone will start a composition with maybe 5-10 bars and then another person will continue it for another 5-10 measures, and then the next person and so on until the game will unexpectedly end (the music stops, in other words) and the last one to enter when the music stops (as determined randomly by the one running the competition) wins.
