New Piano Roll Feature on the musescore.com

Today marks the release of MuseScore Piano Roll. Piano Roll is a popular and convenient method to display piano notation in a way that not only simplifies learning a new piece for novice musicians who lack a teacher, it also beautifully visualizes each score.

Give it a try by simply clicking on the Piano Roll icon now available on all solo piano scores. Be sure to tell us what you think in Improving MuseScore.com!

All of these improvements are designed to not only make MuseScore.com the most valuable resource online for sharing and discovering great musical works but for learning them as well.

We hope you’ll be as excited about this new feature as we were to create it for you, and as always we look forward to your feedback.

This is just the first of an exciting series of updates and releases for MuseScore PianoRoll; we're already hard at work on improving the experience!

Playback foulup

Four days ago I noticed a new style of font on the comments section of my page. I figured it was your new Spring look, but now whenever I want to play a piece of mine or elsewhere one of three things happens:
1) The blue line begins to race across the page before I press play and it plays with the scroll 8 or so bars ahead; 2) it stutters or does not play; 3) It plays (eureka!)
Hardly a good way to entice listeners, wouldn't you say?
Sometimes it stalls and it takes forever to leave the page.

Until this occurrence all had been fine. I have rebooted and my PC seems to be fine in all other aspects. I use Windows 10, Firefox and ver 2.3.2.

I've No Idea What To Do

So my parents finally bought me an alto last March (I had 3 years under my belt then) and it's a student yamaha. I thought it sounded fine, and I played fairly decent with it. Marching band passed, and no problems. I got a new mouthpiece (Selmer c star) before auditioning for an all east TN honor band a few months ago in December (I made it), and I thought I sounded good still. My teacher said my sound was fine. Recently, for the past month or two, I've been noticing a subtle "buzzy" sound when I play, and at first I thought it was the reed. I changed reeds and found out that was not the case.  I showed my band director, and he said it shouldn't be a problem. I showed my teacher, too, but he said he couldn't hear it. I even gave my friend a chance to play my sax, and we both could hear it. Fast track to a few days ago; I got my sax out to start practicing, and immediately I was hit with the very noticeable buzzy sound... but much worse than before. Almost every note has the buzzy sound in it; especially middle g through middle d. I'm going to meet my teacher about it in a few days. But, would anyone know any reason for this just suddenly happening? I feel like it could be my mouthpiece, since it has tiny scratches here and there, or my alto itself, or both. Any advice would be appreciated.

Which Professional Sax Should I Invest In?

The local music store here, Groth Music (Also the biggest music store in Minnesota) has three different professional tenor sax models for sale, at least that’s what shows on their website. If they have more, I’ll look into it. For now, I just want to know if there are opinions.

The options are:

Selmer Paris Professional Model 54JU Tenor Saxophone

Selmer Paris Professional Model 84 Tenor Saxophone

Yamaha YTS-82ZII Custom Z Tenor Saxophone

Btw, I’m leaning towards the Custom Z because I want one with black lacquer so I can look cool at school :P

HQ Orchestral Soundfont Collection >>>v3.0<<< UPDATED 5/3/14 >>>DRUMSETS NOW INCLUDED<<<

Hello,
I have made a large soundfont for orchestra with realistic (mostly studio recorded) audio instead of generic MIDI... I then mixed those into the default soundfont, so that my good ones replace what they can, but the old MIDI for the ones I didn't have are still there... The link is at the bottom, but please take the time to read the full overview below.

=============================INSTRUCTIONS===========================

Of course there are all of the old default sounds between these, but the above additions are mostly partitioned off together similar to the way the old defaults were... A few notes are as follows: The timpani set as default has a little bit of a smaller range, but what it has (I haven't fully tested it out yet...) Is the ability to input the same notes at higher octaves for different effects (Like hard or soft drum rolls...) Try it out... Otherwise please use the concert timpani near the bottom...
Long story short about the additions at the bottom of the list instead of putting everything in order is that I had to REPLACE the old sounds, or put the new sounds in the same bank the old ones were in and move the old ones to the bottom is I wanted to keep them... It is the way it works and if you want the default instruments to work you really need this feature to work. I would recommend checking the Display>Mixer settings (which sounds go to which instrument) before composing a new piece, adding new instruments, or playing someone else's piece... Otherwise you might get some misplaced sounds. (like piano for violin...) Currently I am only aware of HAVING to do the strings each time, the others should just be default...

=============================INSTALLATION============================

FINALLY, here are some instructions on how to install the soundfont if you haven't done it before... It is really simple...

More personalized dashboard and youtube video issue (edited)

Hello Musescore Devs,
I know this has been mentionned before, but I would like to suggest a "Facebook" based'' customization algorithm for the dashboard. Instead on relying on musescore users, the new dashboard would display scores related to music preferences (by genres, instruments and so on).
There would also be a check option, where one can choose the type of music they prefer, the users they want an update from.
I'm sure lots of users would benefit from this improvement.
If you could improve the system which filter unwanted scores to be not seen, that would be great! The blocking system does not work....
Another issue that is quite frustrating is that you can no longer resize the video panel on playback, as most of my scores are video-based. Please fix.
Thank you
Sincerely,
-TheLight OI

Squeaky G and G#

Heya, I'm bringing this problem to the saxes of Musescore because I'm too lazy to make an account for another website and I have a marching band performance on Memorial Day coming up fast. (Just to clarify, this issue is on my tenor.)

So, I've had this problem for my entire time playing saxophone and I've mostly gotten around it with my embouchure, but it's gotten worse. If I try to play G or G#, it squeaks. Quite badly. Just today I noticed that if I kind of focus that squeak, it's actually a really bad palm key Eb, so I was wondering if it was a palm key leak or something else. I did also notice that several of the pads on the palm keys of my (I believe it's a YTS-26? I'll edit the post if it isn't) tenor saxophone were quite a bit out of alignment, especially the high F key, which was several millimeters off center. So, I was wondering if it is a key alignment issue or something else. Any suggestions?

Edit: The palm keys are also really loose on the tone holes, so that won't help. I was thinking of messing with the leaf springs, but I'm no professional. (Finally, that 4th grade science project on levers will help me)
