CCC#1 - "The Watzmann" RESULTS! and CCC#2!

THE RESULTS ARE FINALLY HERE!

I am very sorry for the *ahem* 2 week delay. I've been very busy with school and things, so it's been hard to find the time to judge the pieces. But I've done it now, finally!

We've had some fantastic compositions, ranging from full orchestral to guitar-and-vocals pieces. All have been unique and brilliant in their own way, and it's been a real pleasure listening to all of them.

So, the winner will be announced below, and also in RSA, and you can read the feedback on your own piece in the google docs file. There are also a few winners for different categories, so check to see if your name is there.

THE WINNER IS: @David Dinh - "The Watzmann"
Wow. Just wow. Sounds very much like something from a movie. Beautifully orchestrated, with some fantastic writing for the string section especially. The melody beginning bar 26 is lovely, and harmonically, the piece is fantastic. Also the cannon in bars 46-57 is really nice.

Winner Categories:

Most Original/Interesting take on the task:
@lilianialoy - "Spirit of the Watzmann"

Best Orchestration:
@David Dinh - "The Watzmann"

CCC#2

So given the success of this competition, I think it makes sense to do another one. However, I want you opinion on a few things before I announce it officially. If you could please take the time to fill in this quick questionnaire, I would really appreciate it.

An idea related to private messages

So I am working on arranging The Nutcracker Suite for piano duet from the original orchestral score. And I am going in movement order so I'm starting with the Overture. But I'm stuck at the second full orchestra moment. I know that you can link to webpages, including those that are pdfs. So I would do this:

Text related to my arrangement

Link to pdf of Overture

Link to score if it is uploaded

But the issue I have with this is, what if the score isn't uploaded yet but I still want someone to look at it? If I have the space in my scores I can just upload it. If I don't have the space but I have an unpopular score or one that deserves to be uploaded to youtube, I can either just delete it in the case of an unpopular score or upload to youtube and then after the upload is finished, delete the score in case of one that deserves to be uploaded to youtube.

But what if the scores I have, I still want comments on? This is where adding attachments to private messages would be very helpful. In fact, this would help in the case of not being sure whether I should upload it or not. And it would mean yet another way of getting feedback(which is always a plus).

What do you think? Should they add the attachment functionality to private messages like what they have on the Musescore.org forums to be able to share mscz files?

People in some countries (like mainland China) usually don't have VISA cards or any other form of paying methods for the pro features. How are we supposed to do with it? Could the developers please add some other paying methods?

It's pretty much explained in the summary. We usually don't have VISA, American Express (that's obvious), or any other card to pay for the pro features. Thus, we aren't able to go pro, nor even get a trial period as that also needs billing details. Could the developers please add some other paying methods, such as AliPay or WeChat payment (hot paying methods in China), and possibly other ones to hopefully make any other person who doesn't have access to VISA convenient to purchase pro features? A million thanks to you.

Spacenoplay again

Getting more than a little tired of this. It happens regularly and repeatably on every score, when it starts happening,  I can't believe you've never encountered it.  Click on any measure, and hit space, and instead of starting (or, once started by button, stopping) playing, it just scrolls the score to the next viewport/page.  Firefox 67 now (Mac Mojave), but it's been happening for months with every version of Firefox.   Have you really failed to reproduce this? It may or may not have to do with switching windows to other apps, or posting comments, I don't know, but this happens every hour of every day. PLEASE fix this.

Check out my new personal project!

I decided to write a piece with 3 completely random songs to challenge myself. I believe it will help me in the future when I write professionally and need to transition between movements.
Please critique this piece! Or at least some feedback (thoughts, opinions, requests) would be nice.
If you stick around for updates, expect a big run after where Moonlight Sonata left off. It will help to transition back into Hymn of Acxiom.
Notes:
- The harp part is a sound effect, not an actual part to be played
- All diddled phrases are to be played as normal rolls
- I will update sticking soon
- This piece will eventually come full circle and will end with the ending of the first unoriginal piece
- I changed all the settings so the sheet music would look as close to Sibelius as possible, but they don't go through well online
- I used two soundfonts
Pieces Used:
- Hymn to Acxiom
- La Marseillaise (French National Anthem, only minor section)
- The second half of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata mvmt. 3

Please critique!
