Stuart D had a great idea, suggesting a song about a superworm in response to my song about about superdog. Superworm, a hero sure to worm its way into your heart. Superdog, sure to make you howl. Maybe Rivergrove's burping dino would make a great silly superhero also. Of course, the DYDD is already a superhero.
For this competition, you can come up with your own superhero. Here are silly ideas:

I have started a new group for those precious few of us who like lyrics in songs. If you write lyrics in your songs, want someone to write lyrics for your songs, or want to write songs for someone's lyrics, or even just enjoy listening to songs with lyrics then this group may be just up your alley.

the "Laugh Silly" version of the academy awards for music and composer. All members can submit their vote for the best "Laugh Silly" composer and for best composition thus far (excluding chinadoll, in other words, do not vote for chinadoll or anything of chinadoll compositions, not that you would necessarily, but just in case, thanks)

The World Cup is a HUGE deal internationally and I always love watching it. So I came up with the idea of, instead of having soccer teams, we should have composers!

1. The Cup begins with 64 composers. That's right. 64.
2. Once the 64th composer joins, the games will begin.
3. The 64 composers will be split up into 16 groups of 4 each.
4. The other 3 people in your group will be your round 1 competition.
5. After I split you into 16 groups, I will give a prompt for everybody. The prompt may be "Create a song based upon the Avenger's Theme" or "Create a piece consisting of only woodwinds and a marimba." It could be anything.
6. You will have one week to complete your song and post it in your group.
7. Once the week is up, I will have listened to all of your pieces and chosen the top 2 in each of your groups. The top 2 in each group I chose will move on to the next round. The other 2 in your group will not.
8. After 2 people in each group have been eliminated, there will be 32 remaining.
9. Each person in the top 32 will go head-to-head against another random person.
10. After one week, I will have given another prompt and you would've written another piece.
11. I will chose who in your head-to-head match had the better song. And the worst.
12. The person with the worst will be eliminated. Then there will be 16 composers left.
13. That same system will go on until only 1 remains. They will be called the WORLD CUP CHAMPION!!!

The world cup champion will be followed by me and I will favorite 10 of your scores. (Or if you are not pro, all of them.) And, of course, you will be known as the world cup champion and have a chance in the next world cup if you want.

It's always nice to be patriotic, even if your cause is totally - to put it nicely, a little odd. That's why this contest is just for those people. I just got a great idea for a new contest. I've noticed that a lot musescorers, my self included, are huge Lord of the Rings fans. Throughout Tolkein's works, there are dozens of lyrics without written melodies. My contest idea is to adapt a original, creative melody to the lyrics of any song in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I think I am going to adapt a melody for Tom Bombadill's song.

In an honored tradition, here is the great laugh silly music joke contest. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and honorable mention prizes awarded. Maybe a razzie prize also. Post your jokes here- whether they are inspired, dumb, silly, brilliant, laughable, weird, or pun-filled (when are jokes not allowed? When they are punable by imprisonment). So get your laugh lines in before the deadline (August 31).

August 12 was international elephant day, a holiday devoted to spread awareness for the illegal sale of ivory. Elephants are amazing, very intelligent animals who truly never forget, and yet there are some countries where killing them for their ivory is legal. If you live in one of these countries, please help spread the word about the murder of the elephants and help join the efforts to ban the ivory trade.

Do you know the reality show "Survivor"? If not, it is a show where a group of people go through a serious of insanely difficult challenges and each person gets eliminated one by one until one remains. Well, I'm going to do the same thing, but with music. Each week, me and my fellow host Sean Greenley ( https://musescore.com/user/3418741 ) will give a prompt, and you will have to write an original composition for that prompt. At the end of the week, we will announce who we thought had the best composition... and the worst. The person with the worst composition will be eliminated from the competition. Every week one person will be eliminated until only one remains. They will be crowned the winner of Composition Survivor!! There will be tons of twists and turns and surprises and unexpectednesses cause that's a word along the way. You'll never know what's going to happen. Or if you'll be the next one out. If you choose to join, I wish you the best of luck.

The title says it all! The reason the deadline is so soon is because come on, it doesn’t take that long to compose a bad sounding piece, does it? :P Let’s hear the worst music musescore can make!

Enter your own ORIGINAL blues composition! I don't really care what kind of blues it is. It can be rock or sad or really whatever you want. As long as it is in the standard 1-4-5 blues progression. I can't wait to hear your pieces! Good Luck!

This is possibly the most crazy insane impossible challenge for musescore, but I am attempting it and you should try too. If we fail, wjatever! We had fun, right?

I recently heard a terrific waltz on musescore and so now have the idea of yet another contest, can not have too many, ending July 31.
Any waltz style is fine, multiple compositions are fine, just needs to be an original waltz. Can be a wild and crazy waltz or a serious waltz. Just post your music to the laugh silly group to enter. As always, the administrator will provide a lengthy comment including appropriate "bravos" and whatever suggestions that come to mind, if any. All members are encouraged to provide comments as well. First, second, third, and honorable mention prizes will be awarded. This contest as all of them are just fun contests, not meant to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone feel like a 'loser'. Everyone who creates music is a winner and anyone who enters is an even bigger winner in my music book (well, I don't really have a book, just an expression). Enough jibberjabber.

Here is an idea for a contest. Come up with your own amusing and silly take-off on a song or melody and post it here for this contest. Personally, I was thinking along the lines of Spike Jones' wonderful take-offs on popular tunes or you can think of Weird Al doing the same sort of thing, or PDQ Bach, or some other musical jokester. Or better yet, do your own uniquely original hilarious take-off. There have already be several terrific posts to this site in this laughable vein by a number of members, just to name one for instance some of the amazing tunes of BarryP. Several others have come up with their own great ideas for contest and maybe this is kind of spin-off, combining some of those ideas. The deadline for submissions is Nov 31 (yeah, I know). Hope to hear your entry soon. What the world needs now is more laughs, more and more sweet laughs. What do you way, music lovers?
