So about 100 hours in and going for my grade 1, looking for small tunes tunes to learn sort of busking music... so can play summertime and amazing grace. I like stuff with some long notes in, struggling as I no music knowledge so proving difficult.

I have been having this composers block for about a week now. I usually embrace it and just move on to composing something else, but this is a 50 follower special composition that I have been working on.
So, I can hit a wide range of notes with fairly good tone, but my issue is pitch. I tend to mess up which note I hit. For example, in 4th position playing a D instead of a G. Or playing a high Bb in first instead of an F. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm playing notes too high [usually can tell if it's too low unless it's an F, E or Eb] and end up practicing the wrong notes. I had this issue more this past year because I was first chair in our less-than-spectacular band [we're separated into two bands in my school] and I didn't really have someone to learn off of. I've been trying scales and everything but nothing seems to be working well. This is kind of a big issue for me because I'm basically guaranteed a spot in our better band next year and I want to be on top of my game this time instead of embarrassing myself or relying on someone else. Not to mention I'm joining jazz band...
I'm currently arranging a Panic at the Disco marching band medly. I'm not the best though at percussion though so if someone could help that would be appreciated.
Articulations have completley stopped working on MDL instruments. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Hey there! I just got an alto sax from my local music shop a couple of weeks ago. I'm already experienced with many instruments (Piano, Flute, Clarinet) and was wondering if you guys could help me out in any way!
I've kind of played an alto before, as in a friend in my band give me a crash course. (I can play the jeopardy theme song XDD)
Any tips you all would be very much appreciated!
So I have been playing alto for almost two years and I started on the bari sax and I'm pretty good. But all my band music was thrown out for my alto sax(didn't play bari in my band) and I'm looking for songs to play and learn. I want to get better at Bari for the upcoming school year since thats why I'm playing the bari over the summer. Thanks! Hard, easy and in between songs are just fine :)
A friend and I are seniors in high school and we have a band. I play alto saxophone and he plays drum set. We have played at basketball games, in school concerts, and background music at various school events. Our next (and possibly last) performance is going to be at our graduation, so obviously we want it to be our best performance yet. Our problem is we cannot seem to find a good song/songs to play. We are looking for something fast, upbeat, and fun. Somewhere between 3 to 15 minutes would be perfect. Some of the songs we have played before include: Shipping Up To Boston, Megalovania, Blue (Da Ba Dee), 300 Violin Orchestra, Harder Better Faster Stronger, Eye Of The Tiger, ect. Hopefully that gives you a good idea of the type of music we enjoy playing.
Any song suggestions would be very helpful. Also, if you have any other places I could post this question please let me know. Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone gives.
The local music store here, Groth Music (Also the biggest music store in Minnesota) has three different professional tenor sax models for sale, at least that’s what shows on their website. If they have more, I’ll look into it. For now, I just want to know if there are opinions.
The options are:
Selmer Paris Professional Model 54JU Tenor Saxophone
Selmer Paris Professional Model 84 Tenor Saxophone
Yamaha YTS-82ZII Custom Z Tenor Saxophone
Btw, I’m leaning towards the Custom Z because I want one with black lacquer so I can look cool at school :P
After installing the recent version of musescore 3, when ever I open it it closes before I can do anything. Any solutions?
Hello all. Try as I might, I can't find a transcription for Leo P's solo of "get busy". Might anyone have an idea where to find it?
Thank you for any input!
I realize Barry Harris is a pianist, but check out the first several bars and you will see a sax transcription over the chords to Giant Steps
I've uploaded a couple of scores for brass quartets over the last few months or so and I was hoping somebody with more experience and expertise might be willing to give them a quick a once over? The scores are:
'Something of nautical empires' -
'Learning to get up again' -
I am looking for loud fun stand tunes for our low brass. We play loud and proud. obnoxiously loud just like brass is supposed to. If yall know of any loud exciting stand tunes for low brass I would appreciate it. Have a nice day
Can you think of any 32 bar/16 bar phrase for trumpet that would sound great in a band?
I am currently writing a show right now. I'm finished with the first two movements and would appreciate if someone wanted to write a percussion book for it! Message me for details.
I am currently a battery and front ensemble writer, with an emphasis on battery, who is searching for someone who may be in need of one. I'm looking into collaborating with a front ensemble/wind writer to create indoor or marching shows respectively. This can be done for the sole purpose of improving writing/arranging skills or for serious projects, of which is completely welcomed.
I also have access to Sibelius, if there are any users who would like to use an alternative notating software.
If interested, feel free to contact me :-)
