I'm in the process of learning MuseScore, and will then migrate over, with Finale stopping further suppport for their PrintMusic.
I've exported a score from PrintMusic as mxml, and successfully imported into MuseScore. However, I can't match the original score bars per line. I've found the Layout/Increase or decrease layout stretch, but in the score I have it limits to 7 bars and no further, yet my original that I want to match has 8 bars per line.
Any ideas that I'm missing?
I upgraded to
OS: Windows , Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (32-bit): 2.3.1, revision: github-musescore-musescore-0899e9d
and found that marking a voice as "solo" in mixer does not affect export to mp3. When muting other voices the export works as expected.
As a choir conductor, I'm using MuseScore to produce rehersal mp3 files for the singers. Since version "ancient", I've been using the 'solo' property in mixer to separate e.g. tenord from sopranos, altos and basses. To my surprise, this was not working anymore in the new version. I.e. to extract the tenor voice, I had to put mute on soprano, alto and bass.
In playback, the 'solo' property is working correctly.
Is this a bug or an intended feature?
I'm trying to work around the bug ( https://musescore.org/en/node/271236 ) that doesn't allow to hide the cresc and ped lines. I've managed to make it look ok in preview, but I've read that it doesn't translate well into pdf export. Any recommendations how to proceed ?
I'm trying to make a 6/16 time signature act as a compound meter with the beaming. I go to the master palette for time signatures and adjust the beaming but when entering notes into the staff, the beaming is ignored and goes to the "default" of one beam per measure. Is there something I'm missing?
Using MuseScore on my Mac. Note input, for piano. treble clef, trying to input two 1/8 notes and one 1/4 note to play at the same time. I can get the two 1/8 notes to display on top of each other, but when I go to insert the 1/4 note, it pushes the 1/8 notes to the right. Help?
I scanned in a pdf to the Musescore website and Audiveris created a remarkably accurate with the exception of the first measure of each system and several random other locations. When I tried to make corrections I found that changing a note often created very weird additional rests and moved other notes at random. The problem was that notes had been assigned different voices in patterns that didn't make sense musically, I tried changing individual notes to different voice, and tried changing everything to one voice. I tried following the help directions and several other suggestions but nothing would allow me to change notes to different or a single voice. (my version was 2.0.3).
Any help would be appreciated. If this is not possible, I'll move this to the Improvements Forum.
Hi, I decided to get a keyboard (AKAI LPK25) as am hoping it will speed things up. Reading up on it it appeared to be compatible with MuseScore and my PC software (I'm running Windows 8.1). It says no driver is needed and I've loaded the editor software but can't see the keyboard as an option on the I/0 tab, there is nothing at all on the dropdown for MIDI Input. Port Audio is ticked. Anyone else had problems with this?
Is it possible to add a new staff to an already existing score? I have a piano /vocal score completed but I'd like to add a separate string line to the last few measures.I've tried to add it as a guide cue line in the piano part using another voice and reducing the size of the notes but it's still too cluttered. Thanks.
Anyone else having trouble playing the individual parts since upgrading Musescore? I've been revising and playing scores for months with no trouble. Now, however, when I try to adjust the volumes on the individual parts, I get a message saying "The instruments is (sic) only available for scores made with MuseScore 2." Darn it, they WERE made with MuseScore 2.3.1. Do they mean me to go back to the old version? I've tried downloading and reinstalling MuseScore 2 twice, but that doesn't help. Any ideas?
I tried to install the update and my system crashed twice. I then got the message "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" and to contact Musescore. I have tried to access the program by loading existing scores and it manages to do that but then crashes again. I have had to uninstall the update but now cannot access anything Musescore related. Any help anyone?
when I last opened my Musescore, suddenly all the Icons in the top rows were a whole bunch smaller! Now I have trouble hitting them with my touchpen on my convertible laptop...
Same "shrinking" has happened to the pallette as well. All the Icons there are way smaller, too.
I really need to get them back to the previous larger size to work properly, so any help woul be much appreciated!!
I'm doing my first ever score for a folk music piece. It's an old favourite I'm trying to digitalize.
I want to add a small "pre-note" here and there. I have no clue what it's called so I attach an image. It steals kind of no time from the first note...it's just there....very common folk music thing. And now I realize I can't add an attachment...hmmm.
If anyone understands what I'm after please give me a hint :).
I found one exampl at: https://www.google.se/search?q=string+pre+note&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwibgaTZzcnbAhWF1SwKHaW0BmIQ_AUICigB&biw=2048&bih=1076#imgrc=i3OG4a5UHei_LM:
I score I downloaded has many of its lyrics entered as "Verse 2," and no lyrics entered as verse 1. Is there a way in MuseScore, or by directly editing the XML, to easily, and perhaps globally, change Verse 2 lyrics to Verse 1?
I want to avoid having to retype all the lyrics into Verse 1 and then delete Verse 2.
My name is Marc Sabatella, and you may know me as the author of the comprehensive guide Mastering MuseScore, or as the composer of the song Reunion that was long used as the demo for MuseScore, or as one of the developers of the software and a frequent contributor to the forums on musescore.org.
Today, I am excited to formally announce my new position as Director of Education for MuseScore and the launch of my new website, Mastering MuseScore Online – the ultimate resource for learning the world’s most popular music notation software!
In conjunction with the website, I have created a new Mastering MuseScore group to provide a better place to ask for help here on musescore.com:
Please take a few moments to browse around the new website and join the group! In addition to the book itself, we offer a variety of free content as well as premium courses. We have big plans to continue to expand on these offerings, so we hope you bookmark the site and keep coming back for more!
I created a MIDI file of a composition and very meticulously quantized it to the nearest eighth note (the music is not complicated, and eighth note quantizing is sufficient). I can see very clearly that the first beat of every measure is exactly on the downbeat. But for some reason, when I import it into a new MuseScore file, set up with the proper time signature (3/4), although it recognizes the correct tempo (120BPM), parts of the song notate as they should while others want to start on the sixteenth earlier than they should, creating a weird series of sixteenth to dotted eighth ties. And it's not a cumulative alignment issue either, because the beginning and the end of the song are fine... but for some reason, a portion of the interior of the song is aligned improperly. Incidentally, I selected the import option of eighth notes. but to no avail.
So there's a song that's my pride and joy that I worked on for countless nights just a few months ago. I think the name saved as sc(some numbers) for whatever reason, if that's relevant. I've shown it to my friends and tweaked it countless times, and I've saved every time.
However, my 'Open Recent' was cleared for some reason, so I went, today, to show this song to a friend by finding it in my files manually. However, I went through and both of my 'sc(numbers)' songs were gone.
Could one other song have been corrupted/saved over? Is it possible that musescore/my computer just ate my file? Thanks.
Ever since the update I can't regroup my rhythms no matter how I select it. I tried selecting only the beats that needed regrouping, the whole bar, a passage, or even just the note, but nothing is working.
Earlier today I installed musescore on the above system. I installed both the installed version and the portable version (Appimage). In either case, after I double-click on the icon, I get a momentary flash of the splashscreen, and then it crashes. Here's the log file of the attempted starts of both versions: Any help would be appreciated.
