This is a transcription of Pentatonix's cover of "Hallelujah" on their Christmas album, A Pentatonix Christmas.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but I posted a transcription of this way back in October; unfortunately, it got removed by Sony on both MuseScore and YouTube. I figured that because I'm not monetizing my videos on my new YouTube channel, reuploading this would be okay.

Leave any suggestions/corrections in the comments as always!

Sing We Now of Christmas (in 4/4)

(Copypasted from "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen in 4/4")

It occurred to me recently that the 7/8 version of Sing We Now of Christmas that I had previously posted would probably sound much better (admittedly, most 7/8 pieces would) in 4/4. So, I interpolated an extra eighth note into every measure; here is the result.

I don't know how many of these I'm going to do, but at any rate, here's another 7/8 carol. My reason for making this was to experiment with mixing the types of 7/8 within a single piece.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

For this one, I decided to try a modified canon (that is, the melody didn't quite fit into a canon form, so I had to tweak some notes here and there) instead of the oom-pah "march/ragtime" LH. However, the piece I ended up with lacked a sense of meter, so I decided to have just the "oom"s and no "pah"s by doubling each note in the LH that starts a beat in the octave below.

The 2-3-2 grouping was by far the hardest one to use correctly -- and I'm still not sure this piece sounds quite right. I tried the grouping with different carols until I finally found that this was one of the only ones that would work with it. To prevent the ear from hearing a different grouping (which is still very possible even now), I tried placing a long note at the start of every "beat"; this became Voice 2 in the treble staff. Hopefully this sounds good enough.

This is a transcription of Pentatonix's cover of "O Come All Ye Faithful" from their 2016 Christmas album, A Pentatonix Christmas.

This song was quite difficult to transcribe, especially when the choir parts came in. I know I most likely made a few mistakes in the choir sections, so if anyone spots them, feel free to point them out in the comments, and I'll fix them while giving credit to you.

O Come, All Ye Faithful (Piano Duo Arrangement)

Happy Advent, everyone!

I completed this piano duo arrangement of "O Come, All Ye Faithful" about a month ago but decided to save it for December for once. This is my first piano duo anything that I've published.

This starts with a simple arrangement (easily playable with 2 hands instead of 4), then progresses to an arrangement with a sweeping accompaniment and that probably requires only 3 hands for most of its length, and then ends with a stirring march arrangement that actually requires 4 hands for once.

The ending bar demands that the secondo pianist plays a feathered beam octave tremolo--a feature I'm now prone into putting into later works. Actually getting the feathered beam to play at the proper speed required lots of invisible tempo markings.

Harmonically, this sounds closer to my more typical writing--it's rife with secondary dominants and diminished 7ths. I've never found any good places to put in augmented 6th or Neapolitan chords in this piece, though...

I've left the author as "Traditional" because, at least according to Wikipedia, this carol's authorship is disputed.

Because I cannot take credit for composing the tune, but this Christmas carol is in the public domain, I am using the CC0 license. Feel free to do nigh-anything you want with this!

This is a transcription of Pentatonix's cover of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" on their Christmas album, A Pentatonix Christmas.

This song was quite difficult to transcribe, as everyone was doing a completely different part, so you couldn't rely on guessing to figure out parts you couldn't hear. Sorry it took so long, but at least it's out!

Again, Kevin's sounds aren't perfectly transcribed, but the rhythms should be correct, for the most part. Pentatonix did this song amazingly, though. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the next song to be nominated for a Grammy.

I'll take suggestions in the comments, though I'm currently working on Coventry Carol, Good To Be Bad, and I might start O Come All Ye Faithful soon.

Update Log:
11/8 - Changed Avi's part from measure 73, as he doesn't sing in unison (Credit to Dave Galimpin)
5/4/18 - Thank you to Seth Makafui Passah for all his hard work in making many corrections to this score! Go check out his MuseScore page: https://musescore.com/user/14264726

This is a complete transcription of Pentatonix's original song, "The Christmas Sing-Along", on their new Christmas album, A Pentatonix Christmas.

I'm currently working on Coventry Carol and it's proved to be a lot harder than I thought it would be to transcribe it, so it might be a little while till that one comes out. I might also start working on God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen soon. If you have any requests, put them in the comments and I'll see what I can do.
