Tame Impala—also known as Kevin Parker—recognized for his psychedelic-pop/rock music, released “Dracula” in 2025, but it has recently surged on the charts when he released a remixed version with JENNIE. It reached no. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is still going strong as a popular trend on TikTok. Originally released on Parker’s album “Deadbeat,” the song departs from his classic sound and leans more toward electropop, with a groovy bass line and heavy synths. However, in the remixed version, JENNIE adds her own rap verse and additional lyrics.
From coffee shops to fitness classes, the catchy melody has been getting stuck in my head on a near daily basis. Take a listen here:
A Yearslong Process: Sarah Aarons On Creating “Dracula”
According to the song’s co-writer, Sarah Aarons, creating the song was a years-long process to get the sound they craved. Aarons says in a Billboard interview, “‘Dracula’ took a long time, in the way that there are so many iterations of what it was. There was this one song that was what the chorus is — I call it the chorus, he calls it the pre-chorus — [sings] ‘In the end, I hope it’s you and me.’ We’d worked on that a couple years ago. Then there was this song that we’d written called ‘Dracula’ that his wife loved. One day he just sent me a thing, he was like, ‘I put the line from ‘Dracula’ into this other idea.’ It was the [sings] ‘Run from the sun like Dracula.’ He mashed that into that one line from this other idea, and I was like, ‘Oh damn, that’s kind of sick.’”
In the same interview, Aarons talks about how they were still writing the song 45 minutes before it was due: “When you know you have a deadline, your brain just goes, ‘This is the right thing.’ He called me, and he went, ‘What about this melody?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah! How did we not do that melody already? It totally fits the song.’ We’d written lyrics so many times, we already had so many lyrics floating around our brains. We had so much of what we knew the song was that it kind of clicked.”
The TikTok Trend That Boosted “Dracula” On The Charts
“Dracula” became popular largely due to a TikTok trend in which people walk towards the camera and lip-sync the lyrics, “I’m on the verge of cavin’ in, I run back to the dark. Now I’m Mr. Charisma, fuckin’ Pablo Escobar. My friends are sayin’, ‘Shut up, Jennie, just get in the car.’ I just wanna be right where you are.”
The trend was most notably recreated by Laufey, Meghan Trainor, and Charli D’Amelio, with Bryan Cranston participating by dressing as his iconic character, Walter White from Breaking Bad, playing on the “Pablo Escobar” lyric. JENNIE herself promoted the song by doing her own recreation during Paris Fashion Week. Overall, the song has amassed over 545,000 videos on TikTok as of April 9th, and the number keeps going up.
How The JENNIE Remix Brought “Dracula” A New Audience
The popularity of “Dracula” shows how a collaboration between two artists can be mutually beneficial, even when coming from different ends of the music spectrum. JENNIE was originally known as a member of the iconic K-pop girl group BLACKPINK before going solo, releasing her debut single in 2018 and her debut album, “Ruby,” in 2025. Parker has had a steadily growing audience since his first EP, “Self-Titled” in 2008. “Dracula” has created a pathway for each audience to explore the other, resulting in career highs for both Parker and JENNIE.
