Ahead of the start of his new tour, Harry Styles new song, “Dance No More,” has gained popularity after the release of a music video on May 7th, 2026. The song is the third single from his album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. (often shortened to KISSCO), which, like its namesake, takes a turn from Styles’ typical pop towards a more disco-inspired sound. The album focuses on the theme of fame and how it can affect a star’s life, with “Dance No More” specifically about being a performer but longing to be in the crowd. The song has a strong enough groove that Variety has called it, “a prime early candidate for Song of the Summer 2026.”
The new music video features Styles’ in a gymnasium performing for an audience, and devolves into synchronized disco-like choreography with theatrical lighting. For a rather simple music video, the visuals are fantastic to see. You can watch the music video here:
The Production Behind “Dance No More”
“Dance No More” has a groove that, while laid-back, carries the song through with synths and a snare-heavy drumset. Rolling Stone described it as “a no-parking-on-the-dance-floor Eighties synth fest.” Whoops and cheers can be heard throughout the song, crafting a setting that makes the listener feel that they too are a part of the disco, and the prominent bass line could make anyone in the mood to dance.
In an interview with Runner’s World, Styles said, “I wanted to recreate [what] I had on the dance floor, being lost in the instrumentation and the musicality. It was so immersive, like, this is how I want to feel when I’m on stage too. I don’t want it to feel like a sermon I’m delivering. I wanted it to feel like, oh, we’re in this music together. Like I’m in it with you.” And with Styles’ vocals taking a backseat to the driving production, it certainly is easy to get lost in the groove. However, with the lyrics such as, “DJ’s don’t dance no more,” often being repeated by an ensemble, it does feel almost like a sermon.
Harry Styles’ KISSCO Era
Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. marks the fourth Harry Styles album to reach #1 on the charts. Other than “Dance No More,” his other singles from KISSCO, “Aperture” and “American Girls,” have received acclaim. “Dance No More,” however, stands out from every other track on the album. The atmosphere it creates allows it to have its own life outside of the album it’s intended for, but also epitomizes the themes of work as a whole.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Styles states: “I remember going out the first time in Berlin and standing in the middle of the dance floor and feeling so unbelievably free and safe, that I kind of just had my hands in the air and my eyes closed that I felt these tears streaming down my face. It was this moment of, like, ‘I feel so alive right now.’”
Harry Styles launches his tour in Amsterdam May 16, 2026 which will include a Madison Square Garden residency. “Dance No More” is sure to get audiences to dance (despite the title) and find connection with those around them.
