About MuseScore

MuseScore is a company devoted to helping aspiring musicians in their journey to master the music they love. MuseScore offers free, powerful, and easy-to-use music notation software to create high-quality sheet music, with audio score playback for results that look and sound beautiful. MuseScore has also formed an online community where musicians can share their creations, privately or publicly, through downloads, embeddable widgets, or MuseScore's mobile apps, while also bringing additional social features to sheet music. The MuseScore software is released under an open source license, and there is an open API for third party developers on MuseScore.com.

History

In the winter of 2010, Germany based Werner Schweer, Frenchman Nicolas Froment and Belgian Thomas Bonte met for the first time in real live during an open source software conference in Brussels. Virtually however, they had been working together since 2008, developing free and open source notation software MuseScore. What started as Werner's hobby project back in 2002, became a fast growing open source project under the guidance of Thomas and Nicolas, attracting hundreds of contributors worldwide. Their first encounter in Brussels also resulted in the creation of the MuseScore company which runs a social sharing site for users to share their creations on and offers mobile apps to read sheet music. Today MuseScore is changing the way how people create, share and use digital sheet music. If you like to learn more about the MuseScore story, don't hesitate to reach out to us.
